Lesson packs and subscriptions

Packs let coaches reward committed students with a discounted rate. Students pre-pay for a bundle of lessons and redeem credits one at a time. Recurring subscriptions take it further — same slot, every week, booked automatically.

What is a lesson pack?

A pack is a pre-paid bundle of lesson credits sold at a discounted rate. Credits are specific to the coach and lesson type — they aren't transferable to other coaches.

Discounted rate

Coaches set a pack price lower than paying lesson-by-lesson. The discount is shown clearly on the coach's profile — students can see exactly how much they save.

Pre-paid credits

When a student buys a pack, they receive lesson credits. One credit = one lesson of the type specified in the pack (e.g. one 60-minute private lesson).

No expiry pressure by default

Credits don't expire unless the coach sets an expiry window. Coaches can optionally set a 3- or 6-month use-by period — this is shown at purchase time so students can decide.

Non-refundable after first use

Once a student has redeemed at least one credit from a pack, the remaining credits cannot be refunded to cash. Unused packs that have never been redeemed are refundable within 14 days of purchase.

For coaches: creating a pack

You can create and manage packs from your coach dashboard. It takes under two minutes.

  1. 1

Go to Coach dashboard → Lesson Packs

This is the central place to create and manage all your packs. You can have multiple packs active at once — for example a beginner 5-pack and an advanced 10-pack.

  2. 2

    Create a new pack

Click 'New pack'. Name it (e.g. '5-lesson starter bundle'), choose the lesson type it applies to (private / semi-private / group), set the number of credits, and set the pack price. The per-lesson saving calculates automatically.

  3. 3

    Set optional limits

You can add a credit expiry (3 or 6 months from purchase), a maximum number of packs sold, and a visibility toggle so the pack is invite-only or public.

  4. 4

    Publish

Toggle the pack to 'Active'. It appears on your profile immediately under 'Lesson packs'. Students can buy it from your profile or directly at checkout when booking a lesson.

For students: buying and redeeming

Credits live in your account and are applied at checkout. You're never locked in — credits carry forward until they expire (if the coach set an expiry).

  1. 1

    Find a coach with packs

Coaches who offer packs show a 'Packs available' badge on their profile card in search. Open any coach profile to see available packs.

  2. 2

    Buy the pack

Select the pack, review the number of credits and expiry (if any), and pay by card. Credits appear in My Account → Lesson Credits immediately after payment.

  3. 3

    Book and redeem

When you book a lesson with that coach, you'll be offered the option to pay with a credit instead of a card. Select a credit from the dropdown — one credit is deducted on confirmation.

  4. 4

    Track remaining credits

Your credit balance is always visible in My Account → Lesson Credits. Each entry shows the coach, pack name, credits remaining, and expiry date if applicable.

Subscriptions

Recurring weekly subscriptions

If you have a regular weekly slot with a coach — say, every Tuesday at 7 pm — you can turn it into a subscription. Instead of booking and paying each week, your slot is auto-booked and a credit is deducted automatically.

To set up a subscription: book a lesson as normal, then on the confirmation screen toggle 'Repeat weekly'. Your card is charged each week at the start of that week's billing cycle. You must have an active pack with enough credits, or billing switches to pay-per-lesson at the standard rate.

Coaches can also offer subscription-only slots — these appear in their calendar as dedicated recurring slots that aren't available for one-off bookings.

Cancelling a subscription

Go to My Account → Subscriptions. Click the subscription and hit 'Cancel'. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing week — your slot for that week is already confirmed. Any unused credits from a pack that was bought as part of a subscription remain in your account and can be used for one-off bookings with the same coach.

Quick FAQ

Can I use pack credits with a different coach?
No. Credits from a pack are tied to the coach who sold them and the lesson type specified in the pack.
What if the coach cancels a lesson I had a credit booked for?
The credit is automatically returned to your balance. The coach cancelled, so you're not penalised.
Can a coach change the price of an active pack?
A coach can change the price going forward, but anyone who already bought the pack at the old price keeps their credits at the original terms.
What happens to my credits if a coach leaves Badminton Village?
If a coach's account is removed from the platform, any unredeemed credits from their packs are refunded to your original payment method in full.
Can I give my credits to someone else?
No. Credits are tied to your account and aren't transferable.
As a coach, when do I get paid for pack purchases?
Pack revenue is held as a liability until each credit is redeemed. When a student redeems a credit and the lesson is confirmed, that lesson's net earnings are paid out through your normal Stripe schedule.
